Historically, foreign debt in Nicaragua reached an all time high of USD 12,406 bil in 1994 and an all time low of USD 243 bil in 1970. When compared to Nicaragua's main peers, foreign debt in Costa Rica amounted to USD 31,288 bil, USD 18,334 bil in El Salvador, USD 11,017 bil in Honduras and USD 467,512 bil in Mexico in 2020.
