Historically, foreign trade as a share of GDP in Japan reached an all time high of 37.4% in 2014 and an all time low of 15.8% in 1994. When compared to Japan's main peers, foreign trade as a share of GDP in China amounted to 34.8%, 46.0% in Russia, 69.0% in South Korea and 23.4% in USA in 2020.
