Historically, foreign trade as a share of GDP in Uruguay reached an all time high of 65.2% in 2008 and an all time low of 19.9% in 1973. When compared to Uruguay's main peers, foreign trade as a share of GDP in Argentina amounted to 33.0%, 39.2% in Brazil, 64.4% in Chile and 70.8% in Paraguay in 2021.
