Based on a comparison of 23 banks in Croatia in 2016, Jadranska Banka had the highest share of bad loans, followed by Karlovacka Banka and Partner Banka.

Jadranska Banka's non-performing loans reached 33.0% of total loans at the end of 2016, down from 56.9% when compared to the previous year. Historically, the NPL ratio hit an all time high of 56.9% in 2015 and an all time low of 2.45% in 2009.

Provision coverage amounted to 23.8% at the end of 2016, down from 25.4% compared to a year earlier.

Comparing Jadranska Banka with its closest peers, Karlovacka Banka operated at the end of 2016 with NPL ratio of 23.8% and provision coverage of 60.2%, Partner Banka with 23.4% and 64.4% and Istarska Kreditna Banka Umag had 22.0% of bad loans covered with 51.3% by provisions at the end of 2016.

Non-performing loans of the whole Croatia’s banking sector amounted to 15.0% of total loans in 2016, down from 18.2% when compared to the last year.
