Historically, infant mortality per 1,000 live births in China reached an all time high of 83.4 in 1969 and an all time low of 5.90 in 2019. When compared to China's main peers, infant mortality per 1,000 live births in India amounted to 28.3, 1.80 in Japan, 4.70 in Russia and 5.50 in USA in 2019.
China has been ranked 122nd within the group of 172 countries we follow in terms of infant mortality per 1,000 live births, 16 places below the position seen 10 years ago.
