Historically, killed in road traffic accidents in Austria reached an all time high of 2,632 persons in 1972 and an all time low of 430 persons in 2014. When compared to Austria's main peers, killed in road traffic accidents in Germany amounted to 3,206 persons, 607 persons in Hungary, 3,283 persons in Italy and 216 persons in Switzerland in 2016.
