Maize production fell 33.8% to 180 kt in Afghanistan in 2021, according to Faostat.

Historically, maize production in Afghanistan reached an all time high of 800 kt in 1976 and an all time low of 107 kt in 2018. When compared to Afghanistan's main peers, maize production in Iran amounted to 320 kt, 10,635 kt in Pakistan, 240 kt in Tajikistan and 7.70 kt in Turkmenistan in 2021.

Afghanistan has been ranked 95th within the group of 153 countries we follow in terms of maize production, 10 places below the position seen 10 years ago.
