Military expenditure in local currency rose 36.6% to SDG 33.1 bil in Sudan in 2019, according to the SIPRI Military Expenditure Database.

Historically, military expenditure in local currency in Sudan reached an all time high of SDG 33.1 bil in 2019 and an all time low of SDG < 0.001 bil in 1960. When compared to Sudan's main peers, military expenditure in local currency in Chad amounted to XAF 138 bil, EGP 62.9 bil in Egypt, ETB 15.9 bil in Ethiopia and SSP 24.3 bil in South Sudan in 2019.
