Historically, neonatal mortality per 1,000 live births in Nepal reached an all time high of 97.2 in 1960 and an all time low of 17.5 in 2019. When compared to Nepal's main peers, neonatal mortality per 1,000 live births in Bangladesh amounted to 18.5, 15.7 in Bhutan, 3.70 in China and 21.4 in India in 2019.
Nepal has been ranked 58th within the group of 172 countries we follow in terms of neonatal mortality per 1,000 live births, 18 places below the position seen 10 years ago.
