Number of branches fell 5.95% to 30,072 branches in Germany in 2017, according to the National Central Bank.

Historically, number of branches in Germany reached an all time high of 63,186 branches in 1997 and an all time low of 30,072 branches in 2017. When compared to Germany's main peers, number of branches in Austria amounted to 3,765 branches, 3,195 branches in Belgium, 37,209 branches in France and 13,855 branches in Poland in 2017.
