Historically, patent applications of non-residents in Papua New Guinea reached an all time high of 79.0 in 2013 and an all time low of 33.0 in 2018. When compared to Papua New Guinea's main peers, patent applications of non-residents in Australia amounted to 26,926, 6,851 in Indonesia, 5,417 in New Zealand and 3,517 in Philippines in 2020.
