Historically, tax revenue as a share of GDP in Kazakhstan reached an all time high of 18.3% in 2011 and an all time low of 6.79% in 1997. When compared to Kazakhstan's main peers, tax revenue as a share of GDP in China amounted to 8.09%, 14.9% in Kyrgyzstan, 10.8% in Russia and 14.9% in Uzbekistan in 2020.
