Historically, total coal consumption in Latvia reached an all time high of 669 kt in 1993 and an all time low of 89.3 kt in 2015. When compared to Latvia's main peers, total coal consumption in Belarus amounted to 698 kt, 32.0 kt in Estonia, 278 kt in Lithuania and 228,176 kt in Russia in 2015.
Latvia has been ranked 103rd within the group of 126 countries we follow in terms of total coal consumption, 17 places below the position seen 10 years ago.
