Historically, total coal consumption in Moldova reached an all time high of 2,959 kt in 1992 and an all time low of 144 kt in 2007. When compared to Moldova's main peers, total coal consumption in Bulgaria amounted to 40,628 kt, 29,771 kt in Romania, 228,176 kt in Russia and 45,503 kt in Ukraine in 2015.
