Total coal consumption rose 3.87% to 663 kt in Myanmar in 2015, according to the National Statistical Office.
Historically, total coal consumption in Myanmar reached an all time high of 944 kt in 2003 and an all time low of 63.9 kt in 1997. When compared to Myanmar's main peers, total coal consumption in China amounted to 4,376,326 kt, 879,608 kt in India, 382 kt in Laos and 37,443 kt in Thailand in 2015.
Myanmar has been ranked 80th within the group of 126 countries we follow in terms of total coal consumption, 14 places below the position seen 10 years ago.
