Based on a comparison of 17 banks in Poland in 2016, Getin Holding had the highest share of bad loans, followed by Getin Noble Bank and Bank Ochrony Srodowiska.

Getin Holding's non-performing loans reached 16.2% of total loans at the end of 2016, up from 14.8% when compared to the previous year. Historically, the NPL ratio hit an all time high of 29.7% in 2004 and an all time low of 4.63% in 2008.

Provision coverage amounted to 14.7% at the end of 2016, up from 13.2% compared to a year earlier.

Comparing Getin Holding with its closest peers, Getin Noble Bank operated at the end of 2016 with NPL ratio of 14.7% and provision coverage of 37.1%, Bank Ochrony Srodowiska with 11.0% and 35.1% and Eurobank Poland had 10.00% of bad loans covered with 74.1% by provisions at the end of 2016.

Non-performing loans of the whole Poland’s banking sector amounted to 4.59% of total loans in 2016, down from 5.48% when compared to the last year.
