Based on a comparison of 11 banks in Poland in 4Q2017, PKO BP was the largest bank by assets, followed by Pekao and Santander Bank Polska.

PKO BP assets reached PLN 296,912 mil, up 2.40% when compared to the previous quarter and up 3.97% when compared to the same period of last year. Historically, the bank’s assets reached an all time high of PLN 296,912 mil in 4Q2017 and an all time low of PLN 82,487 mil in 1Q2004.

When compared to the nearest peers, Pekao assets amounted to PLN 185,466 mil, Santander Bank Polska operated with PLN 152,674 mil assets and mBank had total assets of PLN 131,424 mil.

Total assets of the Polish banking sector amounted to CZK 7,002 bil in 4Q2017, up 17.5% when compared to the last year. As a result, the top ranked company - PKO BP accounted for 4.24% of the sector’s assets in 4Q2017. The top 3 companies held a 9.07% share while the five largest firms some 12.7% in 4Q2017.
