Based on a comparison of 16 banks in Poland in 2016, PKO BP was the largest mortgage lender, followed by Pekao and Santander Bank Polska.

PKO BP's mortgage loans reached PLN 108,322 mil, up from PLN 103,006 mil compared to the previous year. Historically, the bank’s mortgage loans reached an all time high of PLN 108,322 mil in 2016 and an all time low of PLN 9,150 mil in 2002.

At the end of 2016, mortgage loans represented 54.4% of PKO BP's loan book.

Comparing PKO BP with its closest peers, Pekao's mortgage loans amounted to PLN 46,026 mil at the end of 2016, Santander Bank Polska operated with PLN 37,008 mil mortgage loans and mBank had a mortgage loan book of PLN 35,369 mil at the end of 2016.

Polish banking sector provided mortgage loans of PLN 1,053 mil in 2016, up 8.39% when compared to the previous year. As a result, the top ranked company - PKO BP accounted for 10.3% of the sector’s mortgage loans in 2016. The top 3 companies hold a 18.2% share while the five largest firms some 24.6% in 2016.
