Based on a comparison of 10 banks in Romania in 2016, Banca Commerciala Romana was the largest deposit taker, followed by BRD Groupe Societe Generale and Banca Transilvania.

Banca Commerciala Romana's customer deposits reached RON 48,235 mil, up from RON 42,626 mil, compared to the previous year. Historically, the bank’s net profit reached an all time high of RON 48,235 mil in 2016 and an all time low of RON 6,592 mil in 2000.

Comparing Banca Commerciala Romana with its closest peers, BRD Groupe Societe Generale's deposits amounted to RON 42,193 mil at the end of 2016, Banca Transilvania operated with RON 41,929 mil of customer deposits and Raiffeisen Bank Romania had clients' deposits of RON 26,375 mil at the end of 2016.

Romanian banks had customer deposits of CZK 274 bil in 2016, up 8.23% when compared to the last year.
