Based on a comparison of 10 banks in Romania in 2017, Banca Transilvania was the most cost efficient bank, followed by UniCredit Tiriac Bank and BRD Groupe Societe Generale.

Banca Transilvania's cost to income ratio reached 48.2% in 2017, down from 42.5% when compared to the last year. Historically, the bank’s costs reached an all time high of 75.4% in 2006 and an all time low of 42.5% in 2016.

When compared to total assets, bank's cost amounted to 1.39% in 2017, down from 2.72% a year earlier.

Comparing Banca Transilvania with its closest peers, UniCredit Tiriac Bank operated in 2017 with a cost to income ratio of 48.3%, BRD Groupe Societe Generale reached 53.1% and Banca Commerciala Romana some 53.5%.
