Based on a comparison of 16 banks in Russia in 2016, Sberbank had the most employees, followed by VTB Bank and Russian Agricultural Bank.

Sberbank employed 325,075 persons in 2016, down 1.69% when compared to the previous year. Historically, the bank's workforce hit an all time high of 330,677 persons in 2015 and an all time low of 197,076 in 2001.

Average cost reached RUB 99,926 per month per month per employee, 12.9% more than a year ago. This figure was RUB 29,817 per month some 10 years ago.

Comparing Sberbank with its closest peers, VTB Bank had 94,966 employees with average cost of RUB 127,853 per month per person, Russian Agricultural Bank operated with 27,236 people (and RUB 78,150 per month per employee) and Alfa Bank had 21,276 employees in 2016 with cost RUB 21,276 per month per head.
