What Banks in Slovakia Were the Largest Deposit Takers in 2016?

Based on a comparison of 14 banks in Slovakia in 2016, Slovenska Sporitelna was the largest deposit taker, followed by VUB Banka and Tatra banka.

Slovenska Sporitelna's customer deposits reached EUR 11,384 mil, up from EUR 10,672 mil, compared to the previous year. Historically, the bank’s net profit reached an all time high of EUR 11,384 mil in 2016 and an all time low of EUR 3,285 mil in 1998.

Comparing Slovenska Sporitelna with its closest peers, VUB Banka's deposits amounted to EUR 9,565 mil at the end of 2016, Tatra banka operated with EUR 8,967 mil of customer deposits and CSOB Slovakia had clients' deposits of EUR 5,619 mil at the end of 2016.

Slovak banks had customer deposits of CZK 3,767 bil in 2016, up 7.00% when compared to the last year. As a result, the top ranked company - Slovenska Sporitelna accounted for 0.302% of the sector’s deposits in 2016. The top 3 companies held a 0.794% share while the five largest firms some 1.04% in 2016.
