What Banks in Slovakia Were the Largest Deposit Takers in 2017?

Based on a comparison of 14 banks in Slovakia in 2017, Slovenska Sporitelna was the largest deposit taker, followed by Tatra banka and VUB Banka.

Slovenska Sporitelna's customer deposits reached EUR 12,478 mil, up from EUR 11,384 mil, compared to the previous year. Historically, the bank’s net profit reached an all time high of EUR 12,478 mil in 2017 and an all time low of EUR 3,285 mil in 1998.

Comparing Slovenska Sporitelna with its closest peers, Tatra banka's deposits amounted to EUR 10,037 mil at the end of 2017, VUB Banka operated with EUR 9,939 mil of customer deposits and CSOB Slovakia had clients' deposits of EUR 6,052 mil at the end of 2017.

Slovak banks had customer deposits of CZK 4,169 bil in 2017, up 10.7% when compared to the last year. As a result, the top ranked company - Slovenska Sporitelna accounted for 0.299% of the sector’s deposits in 2017. The top 3 companies held a 0.778% share while the five largest firms some 1.01% in 2017.
