Based on a comparison of 135 countries in 2012, China ranked the highest in energy use measured by kt of oil equivalent with 2,727,728 kt followed by USA and India. On the other end of the scale was Eritrea with 765 kt, Malta with 857 kt and Montenegro with 1,179 kt.
