Based on a comparison of 71 countries in 2018, India ranked the highest in number of listed domestic companies with 5,065 followed by USA and Japan. On the other end of the scale was Papua New Guinea with 6.00, Costa Rica with 10.0 and Lebanon with 10.0.

Total number of listed domestic companies reached 42,099 in 2018 in the World according to OECD. This is 2.23 % less than in the previous year and -4.21 % less than 10 years ago.

Historically, total number of listed domestic companies reached an all time high of 44,982 in 2014 and an all time low of 13,491 in 1977. The average annual growth amounted to 2.46 % since 1975.

The top ranked country, India, accounted for 12.0 % of number of listed domestic companies in the world. The top 3 countries hold a 31.2 % share while the ten largest countries some 71.9 % in 2018.
