Based on a comparison of 77 countries in 2016, India ranked the highest in number of listed domestic companies with 5,820 followed by USA and Japan. On the other end of the scale was Cayman Islands with 6.00, Papua New Guinea with 6.00 and Seychelles with 8.00.
Total number of listed domestic companies reached 43,192 in 2016 in the World according to OECD. This is 0.803 % less than in the previous year and -6.11 % less than 10 years ago.
Historically, total number of listed domestic companies reached an all time high of 46,994 in 2011 and an all time low of 13,491 in 1977. The average annual growth amounted to 2.65 % since 1975.
The top ranked country, India, accounted for 13.5 % of number of listed domestic companies in the world. The top 3 countries hold a 31.7 % share while the ten largest countries some 72.5 % in 2016.
