Based on a comparison of 29 countries in 2014, Australia ranked the highest in midwives per 10,000 inhabitants with 9.94 persons followed by Belgium and Iceland. On the other end of the scale was South Korea with 0.229 persons, Slovenia with 0.582 persons and Austria with 1.60 persons.
