Which Country Produces the Most Figs?

Based on a comparison of 50 countries in 2021, Turkey ranked the highest in fig production with 320,000 tonnes followed by Egypt and Morocco. On the other end of the scale was Qatar with 9.00 tonnes, Ecuador with 36.3 tonnes and Malta with 40.0 tonnes.

Total fig production reached 1,348,255 tonnes in 2021 in the World according to Faostat. This is 3.61 % less than in the previous year and 20.9 % more than 10 years ago.

Historically, total fig production reached an all time high of 1,597,659 tonnes in 1964 and an all time low of 860,717 tonnes in 1978. The average annual growth amounted to -0.256 % since 1961.

The top ranked country, Turkey, accounted for 23.7 % of fig production in the world. The top 3 countries hold a 56.6 % share while the ten largest countries some 84.4 % in 2021.
