Based on a comparison of 152 countries in 2014, China ranked the highest in goat meat production with 2,098,100 tonnes followed by India and Pakistan. On the other end of the scale was Belize with 1.00 tonnes, Suriname with 6.00 tonnes and Luxembourg with 10.0 tonnes.
Total goat meat production reached 5,157,517 tonnes in 2014 in the World according to Faostat. This is 4.17 % less than in the previous year and 15.0 % more than 10 years ago.
Historically, total goat meat production reached an all time high of 6,619,115 tonnes in 2010 and an all time low of 1,101,886 tonnes in 1961. The average annual growth amounted to 2.95 % since 1961.
The top ranked country, China, accounted for 40.7 % of goat meat production in the world. The top 3 countries hold a 56.5 % share while the ten largest countries some 74.7 % in 2014.
