Based on a comparison of 24 countries in 2014, Canada ranked the highest in mustard seed production with 198,000 tonnes followed by Nepal and Russia. On the other end of the scale was Australia with 5.00 tonnes, Mexico with 5.00 tonnes and Kyrgyzstan with 18.0 tonnes.
Total mustard seed production reached 557,140 tonnes in 2014 in the World according to Faostat. This is 2.34 % less than in the previous year and -44.9 % less than 10 years ago.
Historically, total mustard seed production reached an all time high of 807,447 tonnes in 2004 and an all time low of 170,905 tonnes in 1975. The average annual growth amounted to 1.55 % since 1961.
