Based on a comparison of 43 countries in 2014, India ranked the highest in okra production with 6,346,370 tonnes followed by Nigeria and Sudan. On the other end of the scale was Djibouti with 26.0 tonnes, Belize with 49.0 tonnes and Puerto Rico with 162 tonnes.
Total okra production reached 8,667,115 tonnes in 2014 in the World according to Faostat. This is 0.258 % less than in the previous year and 33.0 % more than 10 years ago.
Historically, total okra production reached an all time high of 9,496,844 tonnes in 2012 and an all time low of 1,107,430 tonnes in 1961. The average annual growth amounted to 3.96 % since 1961.
