Based on a comparison of 86 countries in 2014, China ranked the highest in plum and sloe production with 6,242 kt followed by Romania and Serbia. On the other end of the scale was Estonia with 0.064 kt, Latvia with 0.109 kt and Luxembourg with 0.139 kt.
Total plum and sloe production reached 10,853 kt in 2014 in the World according to Faostat. This is 6.23 % less than in the previous year and 11.2 % more than 10 years ago.
Historically, total plum and sloe production reached an all time high of 11,528 kt in 2013 and an all time low of 4,235 kt in 1962. The average annual growth amounted to 1.07 % since 1961.
The top ranked country, China, accounted for 57.5 % of plum and sloe production in the world. The top 3 countries hold a 65.8 % share while the ten largest countries some 82.3 % in 2014.
