Asylum applicants reached 626,960 persons in 2014 in the European Union, according to the National Statistical Office. This is 45.4% more than in the previous year.
Historically, asylum applicants in the European Union reached an all time high of 697,085 persons in 1992 and an all time low of 160,010 persons in 1985.
