Historically, bank assets as a share of GDP in Bulgaria reached an all time high of 341 % in 1991 and an all time low of 22.8 % in 1998. When compared to Bulgaria's main peers, bank assets as a share of GDP in Greece amounted to 144 %, 51.6 % in Romania, 81.2 % in Serbia and 102 % in Turkey in 2017.
