Bank assets as a share of GDP reached 5.63 % in 2004 in Myanmar, according to the National Central Bank. This is 27.1 % less than in the previous year.
Historically, bank assets as a share of GDP in Myanmar reached an all time high of 65.3 % in 1987 and an all time low of 3.93 % in 1990. When compared to Myanmar's main peers, bank assets as a share of GDP in China amounted to 194 %, 72.4 % in India, 8.38 % in Laos and 105 % in Thailand in 2004.
