Bank net profit reached -1,638,839 JPY mil in 2008 in Japan, according to the National Central Bank. This is 157 % less than in the previous year.
Historically, bank net profit in Japan reached an all time high of 5,627,725 JPY mil in 2005 and an all time low of -7,552,200 JPY mil in 1998. When compared to Japan's main peers, bank net profit in China amounted to 583,360 CNY mil, 412,076 RUB mil in Russia, 7,738,000 KRW mil in South Korea and -6,608 USD mil in USA in 2008.
