Historically, fish consumption per capita in Romania reached an all time high of 9.70 kg in 1988 and an all time low of 1.40 kg in 1993. When compared to Romania's main peers, fish consumption per capita in Bulgaria amounted to 6.60 kg, 5.30 kg in Hungary, 14.0 kg in Moldova and 13.6 kg in Ukraine in 2013.
