Number of international tourist arrivals reached 8.16 mil in 2017 in Egypt, according to Eurostat. This is 55.1 % more than in the previous year.
Historically, number of international tourist arrivals in Egypt reached an all time high of 14.1 mil in 2010 and an all time low of 2.87 mil in 1995. When compared to Egypt's main peers, number of international tourist arrivals in Israel amounted to 3.61 mil, 16.1 mil in Saudi Arabia and 0.813 mil in Sudan in 2017.
Egypt has been ranked 44th within the group of 149 countries we follow in terms of number of international tourist arrivals, 20 places behind the position seen 10 years ago.
The number of international tourists who travel to a country other than that in which they have their usual residence, but outside their usual environment, for a period not exceeding 12 months and whose main purpose in visiting is other than an activity remunerated from within the country visited.
