Historically, lignite coal production in Mongolia reached an all time high of 11,005 kt in 2012 and an all time low of 4,111 kt in 1995. When compared to Mongolia's main peers, lignite coal production in China amounted to 241,236 kt, 7,012 kt in Kazakhstan, 1,809 kt in Kyrgyzstan and 85,912 kt in Russia in 2015.
