Non-performing loans reached 8.29 BGN bil in 2017 in Bulgaria, according to the National Central Bank. This is 16.8 % less than in the previous year.
Historically, non-performing loans in Bulgaria reached an all time high of 10.7 BGN bil in 2015 and an all time low of 0.089 BGN bil in 1995. When compared to Bulgaria's main peers, non-performing loans in Greece amounted to 104 EUR bil and 64.0 TRY bil in Turkey in 2017.
Bulgaria has been ranked 60th within the group of 90 countries we follow in terms of non-performing loans, 13 places behind the position seen 10 years ago.
