Number of bank employees reached 3,610 persons in 2009 in Iceland, according to the National Central Bank. This is 12.3 % less than in the previous year.
Historically, number of bank employees in Iceland reached an all time high of 7,292 persons in 2006 and an all time low of 2,224 persons in 1999. When compared to Iceland's main peers, number of bank employees in Denmark amounted to 50,101 persons, 22,969 persons in Norway, 49,256 persons in Sweden and 438,200 persons in United Kingdom in 2009.
