Number of branches reached 4,596 branches in 2017 in Romania, according to the National Central Bank. This is 4.21 % less than in the previous year.
Historically, number of branches in Romania reached an all time high of 7,375 branches in 2008 and an all time low of 3,031 branches in 2004. When compared to Romania's main peers, number of branches in Bulgaria amounted to 3,060 branches and 2,417 branches in Hungary in 2017.
Romania has been ranked 10th within the group of 46 countries we follow in terms of number of branches, 14 places above the position seen 10 years ago.
