Based on a comparison of 16 countries in 2016, Italy ranked the highest in official production of wine with 50,700 1,000 hl followed by France and Spain. On the other end of the scale was Belgium with 10.3 1,000 hl, Malta with 21.4 1,000 hl and United Kingdom with 38.0 1,000 hl.
