Sales of passenger cars reached 3,810 thousand in 2020 in Japan, according to ACEA. This is 11.4% less than in the previous year.

Historically, sales of passenger cars in Japan reached an all time high of 5,103 thousand in 1990 and an all time low of 145 thousand in 1960.
