Virgin olive oil production reached 66,532 tonnes in 2014 in Portugal, according to Faostat. This is 33.5 % less than in the previous year.
Historically, virgin olive oil production in Portugal reached an all time high of 123,431 tonnes in 1961 and an all time low of 8,800 tonnes in 1983. When compared to Portugal's main peers, virgin olive oil production in France amounted to 4,900 tonnes, 137,400 tonnes in Morocco and 1,738,600 tonnes in Spain in 2014.
