Bank Zachodni WBK (BZ WBK) is a Polish universal bank based in Wrocław, Poznań and Warsaw. It is the third largest bank in Poland in terms of assets and the number of outlets. It was formed in 2001 by the merger of Bank Zachodni and Wielkopolski Bank Kredytowy. Since 2011, the Bank has been owned by the Spanish Santander Group. At the beginning of 2013, Bank Zachodni WBK merged with Kredyt Bank, a troubled small bank formerly owned by Belgium's KBC. All these steps led to establishing the third largest bank in Poland by market share. Bank Zachodni WBK has a network of over 600 branches and provides services to more than 3.8 mil customers. Apart from the traditional retail and corporate banking, it also offers such services as securities intermediation, leasing, factoring, asset and fund management, insurance, and shares trading.
