Erste Bank - How Much is the Bank Exposed to CEE?

Erste Group Bank made a net profit of EUR 896 mil in 2Q2023, up 30.2% when compared to the same period of last year. This implies a return on equity of 17.7%.

Some 45.7% of the group's net profit came from CEE Region and 35.8% from the Austria. Ceska Sporitelna generated a profit of EUR 229 mil (or 19.4% of total) followed by Hungary (EUR 97.9 mil) and Romania's BCR (EUR 88.5 mil).

CEE subsidiaries generated 67.3% of the Group's profit in the last three years, down from 153% seen a decade ago. That's compared to 45.7% of assets, 43.7% of loans and 46.0% of risk-weighted assets allocated in the CEE region at the end of June 2023.
