Based on a comparison of 12 banks in Slovakia in 2017, Slovenska Sporitelna was the best capitalised bank, followed by Tatra banka and VUB Banka.
Slovenska Sporitelna's capital adequacy ratio reached 18.7%, down from 21.5% when compared to the previous year. Historically, the bank’s capital ratio hit an all time high of 25.2% in 2013 and an all time low of 9.10% in 2006.
Comparing Slovenska Sporitelna with its closest peers, Tatra banka ended the year 2017 with a capital adequacy ratio at 18.7%, VUB Banka with 18.2% and Sberbank Slovakia some 17.9% at the end of 2017.
The average capital adequacy reached 19.3% in the Slovak banking sector in 2017.
