Based on a comparison of 132 countries in 2018, China ranked the highest in dry onion production with 24,700 kt followed by India and USA. On the other end of the scale was Maldives with 0.032 kt, Luxembourg with 0.298 kt and Bhutan with 0.408 kt.

Total dry onion production reached 96,774 kt in 2018 in the World according to Faostat. This is 0.734 % less than in the previous year and 22.5 % more than 10 years ago.
