Based on a comparison of 115 countries in 2014, China ranked the highest in production of green chilli and pepper with 16,120 kt followed by Mexico and Turkey. On the other end of the scale was Djibouti with 0.011 kt, Bahrain with 0.085 kt and Maldives with 0.119 kt.
Total production of green chilli and pepper reached 30,277 kt in 2014 in the World according to Faostat. This is 2.82 % less than in the previous year and 18.6 % more than 10 years ago.
Historically, total production of green chilli and pepper reached an all time high of 31,131 kt in 2013 and an all time low of 5,072 kt in 1964. The average annual growth amounted to 3.13 % since 1961.
The top ranked country, China, accounted for 53.2 % of production of green chilli and pepper in the world. The top 3 countries hold a 69.3 % share while the ten largest countries some 89.7 % in 2014.
