Based on a comparison of 79 countries in 2014, China ranked the highest in lard production with 2,310,425 tonnes followed by Germany and Brazil. On the other end of the scale was Morocco with 31.0 tonnes, Botswana with 38.0 tonnes and Estonia with 80.0 tonnes.

Total lard production reached 5,854,313 tonnes in 2014 in the World according to Faostat. This is 3.64 % less than in the previous year and 11.0 % more than 10 years ago.

Historically, total lard production reached an all time high of 6,067,574 tonnes in 2013 and an all time low of 3,274,261 tonnes in 1961. The average annual growth amounted to 1.10 % since 1961.
